Description

Gain the knowledge, skill, and competence to support early childhood literacy and numeracy in a specific Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) learning environment.

At the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Identify ECCE theories, concepts and principles relating to the learning of Literacy/Numeracy
  • Acquire skills in the use and presentation of the Literacy, numeracy materials
  • Understanding of the characteristics and rational of the Literacy/Numeracy materials
  • Initiate a child into the Literacy/Numeracy exercises
  • Develop original materials to meet the needs and interests of children
  • Understand the rational behind the use of the literacy/numeracy curriculum materials
  • Plan for the continuity of learning experiences re children in the 3-6 years age range
  • Acknowledgment of best practice and professional behavior at all times
  • Appreciate the significant features in relation to the teacher, the child, and the environment
