Description

The module aims to introduce you to human growth and development from infancy to old age in order that the learner will be equipped to relate to people at a level appropriate to their needs.

At the end of the Module the learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of social policy and legislation with regard to an ECCE setting
  • Demonstrate best practice, equality, respect, diversity, and inclusiveness in the ECCE setting
  • Explore and evaluate how certain social issues impact on the child’s health and well being
  • Evaluate the policies and procedures that safeguard children and staff in an ECCE setting
  • Identify and assess national and international guidelines and social policies
  • Develop skills to meet the needs of children, parents, colleagues and other role players
  • Reflect on their personal attitudes with regard to bias, prejudice, and discrimination
  • Personally reflect on their learning needs with regard to the social, legal and health framework for ECCE settings
