Description

Equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and competence relevant to the theory and practice of child development when working autonomously and with others in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) settings.

At the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development theories and their usefulness in ECCE
  • Appreciate a range of innate and external factors which affect the holistic development of the child
  • Demonstrate the skills required to work effectively and efficiently in an ECCE setting
  • Demonstrate the importance of observation and evaluation in the ECCE setting
  • Understand child development from 0-6 years and the skills required in the ECCE setting
  • Recognise the capabilities and potential of each child across all domains of development
  • Promote best practice, equality, and respect for diversity in an ECCE setting
