This Event Management and Public Relations Course is targeted at the learner who has an interest, either from a personal development perspective and/or from a career development perspective, in the exciting event management area. As the area of public relations is so often linked to the area of event management, the course all introduces the learner to the key concepts of public relations and how to undertake it with the desired outcome.
Short summary of course
The course is intentionally practically focused and importantly, it ensures that it introduces learners to the key areas of the event proposal, risk management, health and safety considerations and the post-event evaluation. The lecturer on the course presents with significant industry experience in the EM area. The learner is also introduced to the importance of PR and how correct management of same can protect an organisation from, for example, highly negative media coverage.
There is no specific academic entry requirement for this course although it is likely learners will have a knowledge of the marketing area. This is not essential however.
The assessment will be a practically based project piece, usually requiring the learner to undertake a critique of an organisation’s event management strategy.
