The Bachelor of Business (Honours) in International Business is a one-year Level 8 Qualification awarded by Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

Work experience is a core part of this Level 8 Degree programme and learners will have the opportunity to work in a business setting applying their skills and abilities to support the work of the business.

The Bachelor of Business (Hons) has an international focus where learners will be exposed to key knowledge and skills that will be essential for enterprises that trade internationally.

Graduates will have a range of international business know-how, the cultural awareness capability and the talent to support exporting companies. The programme will provide an integrated view of business situations and will give graduates a deep knowledge and understanding of the theoretical frameworks and practical techniques of business and management. It will enhance self-awareness and transferable, intellectual and employability skills to gain employment at the appropriate level in an organisation.

The requirement for entry are:

Applicants must have a Level 7 Qualification (primary degree) in Business or equivalent.
Mature learners who are over 23 years of age on January 1st 2014 may be deemed eligible to take the course depending on their work experience, general education standard, motivation and commitment to the course.

Why Study the Bachelor of Business in International Business?
This course will provide you with an opportunity to take part in a structured educational programme that can eventually lead to employment or further study.  It will prepare the learner with the knowledge and competencies required to work at entry and middle management ranks of business and management within the various industrial, commercial and service settings. It will enhance your employability skills so that you will be able to develop, lead and sustain organisations on a national and international basis.

What Modules will you Study?
Learners will study seven mandatory modules and 2 elective modules.

How is the Programme Assessed?
A range of assessment methods will be used including individual and group projects, presentations, poster displays, reflective journals, practical exercises and examinations.

Fergus Studied for a B.A. in English Literature at University College Dublin and a MSc. Dublin Institute of Technology. He is presently studying for a PhD. in Public Sector Management. He is the programme leader for the Bachelor of Business at Dorset College and he lectures in Management, Communications and Marketing. Fergus has extensive Lecturing and teaching experience ranging from teaching dis-advantaged teenagers to lecturing at degree level.  Fergus’ Industry experience includes independent management consultancy in Ireland, England and Australia in Financial IT systems consultancy and Project Management & Process Training.  Interests and Activities include: enjoys reading and cinema.

Rachel Ramirez Ward (B.A. / M.A. Masters in Organisational Behaviour)
Rachel lectures in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources at Dorset College. Rachel has worked as a lecturer and facilitator, with specialist experience in teaching international students from the USA, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Rachel’s industrial experience covers the Business, Education, and Training sector as a training administrator and management consultant. Rachel studied for a B.A in Columbia University, NYC and for a Masters in organisational Behaviour at Trinity College Dublin.

Sharon Dillon Lyons (B.A. / M.A. Masters in Journalism / LLB)
Sharon lectures in Business Law at Dorset College. Sharon has a large amount of lecturing experience at Level 7 and 8 honours degree level. Significant experience in administration, journalism and legal profession. Sharon is a practising Barrister at Law in the Kings Inn in Dublin. Sharon studied for her B.A. in the University of Galway where she also studied for a masters in Journalism and her LLB.

Ryan Conradie holds a Masters of Business Administration: University of Wales 2012 (Project Management, Change, Operations, Finance).  Six Sigma Black Belt: Aveta Business Solutions 2009.  A Lean, Six Sigma Business manager with over 14 years experience in the services industry. 

Specialised in the areas of Lean, Project and Change Management within Business Operations.  2013 Dorset College -  Level 7 Lean Six Sigma.
