The Minimum Entry Requirements to study with ACCA-X are as follows: 

Leaving Certificate in 5 subjects with 3 Honours at Higher Level papers and a pass in English and a pass in Maths.
IELTS 5.0 or equivalent TOEFL score is acceptable for applicants whose first language is not English
If students don’t satisfy these minimum entry requirements and have no other qualifications, they can still register to complete the Diploma.  
The only difference is that instead of sitting F1, F2 and F3, they sit the equivalent subjects FFA, FMA and FAB and must register on the Foundations in Accounting qualification register. 
On completion of these 3 subjects these students can then progress to the full ACCA qualification and continue their studies from F4 onwards. 

The ACCA-X Diploma in Accounting & Business is the starting point for a career in this field.  You will beneift from the wide experience of our excellent team of lecturers.  On successful completion of FAB, FMA and FFA, and also the Professionalism and Ethics online examination learners can claim exemption from the F1, F2 and F3 of the ACCA Qualification and will start at the Skills module exams.

Accountant in Business (FAB/F1)

About this course
Understand how businesses operate effectively, efficiently and ethically and the critical role finance professionals play in achieving this.

This course will help you understand business in the context of its environment, including economic, legal and regulatory influences on such aspects as governance, employment, health and safety, data protection and security. 

On completion of the course, you will understand:

  • the purpose and types of businesses and more about how the external environment impact them
  • business organisation structure, functions and the role of corporate governance
  • how accountancy and audit support effective financial management and communication
  • leadership and how people are developed within businesses
  • what makes for a high performing team

Completion of this course will also prepare you for the ACCA exam ‘Accountant in Business’ (FAB/F1), one of three exams required to achieve the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.

Management Accounting (FMA/F2)

About this course
Learn management accounting techniques to help you support businesses to plan, control and monitor performance.

This course will introduce you to different ways of managing finance within an organisation with the aim of enhancing business performance.

It will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding of how to make financing and investment decisions and help you to understand:

  • how organisations finance their operations
  • how to plan and control cash flows
  • how to make the best use of working capital
  • the principles of making capital investment decisions.

Completion of this course will also prepare you for the ACCA exam ‘Management Accounting’ (FMA/F2), one of three exams required to achieve the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.

Financial Accounting (FFA/F3)

About this course
Learn the underlying principles and concepts of financial accounting, accounting techniques and the preparation of basic financial statements. 

The course will allow you to demonstrate technical proficiency in the use of double-entry techniques, including the preparation and interpretation of basic financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, companies and simple groups of companies.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand how to:

  • record, process and report business transactions
  • use the trail balance and identify and correct errors
  • draft financial statements
  • apply the qualitative characteristics of useful information.

Completion of this course will also prepare you for the ACCA exam ‘Financial Accounting’ (FFA/F3), one of three exams required to achieve the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.

What you will learn

  • Context and purpose of financial reporting
  • Qualitative characteristics of financial information
  • Use of double-entry and accounting systems
  • How to record transactions and events
  • How to prepare a trial balance (including identifying and correcting errors)
  • How to prepare basic financial statements for incorporated and unincorporated entities
  • How to prepare simple consolidated financial statements
  • Interpretation of financial statements.

Assessment
The ACCA-X Diploma in Accounting & Business is assessed by formal examinations for all papers.  Dorset College is a registered CBE (Computer Based Exam) Centre. Students registered with ACCA may take Computer Based Examinations for the three Papers in Dorset College at scheduled times or at ACCA centres globally.
