I am hoping to pursue a course that will further my knowledge and upon completion provide me with the skills necessary to further my career but I'm not quite sure what course would be most suitable for me?

I have decided what course I would like to take, how do I go about applying for this course?
You would need to fill out an application form and pay a deposit of €350.00 to secure your place. You can apply online or you can fill out the application form and return it to us. For some of our full-time courses you will be called for an interview after your initial application has been processed.

Do you offer Distance/e learning at Dorset College?
All courses that we currently offer take place on Campus at Dorset College. We are currently developing our Distance/e learning programmes and any updates will be detailed on our website.

Are the qualifications awarded on completion of the course recognised qualifications?
Yes, we offer a range of professional courses here at Dorset College including a number of internationally recognised qualifications. HETAC, FETAC, ACELS, CIPD, PMI, ACCA, ICM, JEB and ECDL are just some of the awarding bodies for our programmes here at Dorset College.

Do I have to pay all the course fees upfront or can I pay in instalments?
A deposit of €350.00 is required to accompany your completed application form. This secures your place on the course and full fees must be paid prior to the start date of the course. If additional exam fees and registration fees are required they must be paid within one month of course commencement.

What are the available methods of payment?
Fees are accepted by cheque, postal order or bank draft. All major credit cards are accepted, and you can pay online through our secure payment system. We are unable to process Laser cards over the phone but they can be used when paying in person.

I see you have 3 campuses, in which building will my course be held?
You will be notified 2 weeks in advance of the commencement date of your course, informing you of the location. You will receive a letter or email giving directions should you require them and all available bus routes.

I have a two week holiday booked during the course would it be possible to make up the classes I missed?
It is not recommended that any holidays are taken throughout the duration of the course. All of our courses require an 80% attendance rate. If it is unavoidable we would advise that you speak to your tutor in advance and come to some arrangement to make up for the course work that will be missed during your absence.

Does the college close on Bank Holidays?
Yes, the college closes every Bank Holiday weekend so there will be no classes on Friday evening, Saturday or Monday. This is taken into consideration and extra classes are added to compensate for this when scheduling the course, therefore the dates will not change.

What period over Christmas does the college close?
The dates vary from year to year but the college closes approximately one week prior to Christmas Day and re-opens one week after New Years Day. Full details will be given to students when their course commences.

I see some of your courses are FAS CDP funded, how will I know if I am eligible?
To be eligible for the FAS funding you must be in employment, your company must not be in receipt of state funding and there must be less than 250 employees within your company.

If for some reason the course is cancelled will I be entitled to a full refund?
Yes, of course. In the unlikely event of a course being cancelled your payment will be refunded in full.

If I decide I cannot for whatever reason begin or continue with my course will I be entitled to a refund?
No, your fee will not be refunded if it is your decision to discontinue the course. In exceptional circumstances, however, the college will try in so far as possible to accommodate you on the next available course.

What do I do if I have any queries about examinations or upon completion of my examinations queries about results and certificates?
We have an Examinations Officer here at Dorset College who is available to deal with all queries relating to exams and certificates.
