The ACCA Certified Accounting Technician Course offers superb career opportunities in many different contexts. The ACCA qualification provides the knowledge and understanding required to work in accounting support roles in all aspects of the financial sector and is an ideal introduction into accountancy. Successful completion of the ACCA exams offers automatic transfer to Part 2 of the ACCA Qualification. This leads to an Oxford Brooks Honours BSc in Applied Accounting.

 

ACCA Certified Accounting Technician Course

Pre-requisites

Entry to the ACCA certified accounting technician course is open with no pre-requisites. Where a student has no qualifications, he/she will be expected to complete all three levels of the ACCA technician examinations.  Certain prior qualifications may entitle the student to exemptions from some or all of the ACCA papers. However, even with exemptions, the student will have to satisfy the necessary training requirement to complete the ACCA technician qualification as a whole.

Course Aim

To demonstrate the skills, knowledge and understanding of financial and cost accounting systems and processes within a departmental and business perspective.  To demonstrate the required skill and attribute set in order to undertake a wide range of roles within the accounting department.

Assessment

 ACCA Certified Accounting Technician course is assessed by formal examinations for all papers.  Dorset College is a registered CBE (Computer Based Exam) Centre. Students registered with ACCA may take Computer Based Examinations for Papers 1-4 in the College at scheduled times. 

Students are responsible for the payment of registration and examination fees which are made directly to ACCA. Textbooks will be required for each subject and full details will be given on enrolment.  All candidates MUST be registered with ACCA and hold a valid ACCA registration ID card prior to being entered for CBE’s.    Registration for Paper-based Examinations is made directly with ACCA.

If  you wish to take part in specific paper-based examination sessions, the following deadlines apply:
For the June ACCA examinations               Register by 31 December of the preceding year
For the December ACCA examinations     Register by 15 August of the same year

Awards

On successful completion of the ACCA Certified Accounting Technician examinations, you will receive an invitation to become a ACCA Certified Accounting Technician. In order to obtain the qualification and use the designatory letters CAT (Certified Accounting Technician) after your name, you must also satisfy the appropriate practical financial work experience requirement (1 Year).
