Lecturers Forensic Psychology
Diploma in Criminalistics & Forensic Psychology
The course will be delivered by a panel of professional & academic lecturers. All have postgraduate qualifications, many are published in their areas of expertise and are employed in forensic settings.
1. Dr Sharon Lambert BA, PhD, PSI, BPS holds an honours degree in Applied Psychology from University College Cork, (UCC), and a PhD in the field of Forensic Psychology. Sharon has a number of research interests all in the areas of Investigative & Forensic Psychology including Sex Offending and Investigative Interviewing.
Sharon holds lecturing posts on Forensic Psychology and Criminal Behaviour courses at University College Cork, University of Limerick and NUI, Galway and is a frequent contributor to national media debates in her fields of expertise.
Sharon regularly presents at psychology conferences and has delivered training seminars in Forensic Psychology to the Metropolitan Police in the U.K. and to the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Ireland. In addition Sharon lectures on induction and training courses within An Garda Síochána in the area of Sexual Deviance. Sharon has also acted as a special advisor to Garda Working Groups examining the issues of Investigative Interviewing and Juvenile Justice.
Sharon is a committee member of the Psychological Society of Ireland’s Forensic Special Interest Group.
2. Orla Lynch BSc MLitt PhD (ABD) is a Lecturer in Terrorism Studies at The Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence in the School of International Relations, University of St Andrews, Scotland. Orla's background is in Applied Psychology and International Security Studies.
Orla has lectured internationally and consulted on security issues with the United Nations, Ministry of Defence, Metropolitan Police (UK), Counter Terrorism Command and Defense Threat Reduction Agency (USA).
Orla's current research concerns the Muslim communities in the UK and Ireland. Orla is exploring issues around Islamic communities and their relationship, if any, to non-violent and violent radicalism and terrorism amongst second and subsequent generations of British and Irish Muslims. Orla is also interested in issues around cultural training for police and military and police-community relations in populations associated with a terrorist threat. Orla is currently involved in developing a Post Graduate Diploma and MLitt in Terrorism Studies for The Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence.
6. Mr James Walsh, MBA
James Walsh is an independent IT security consultant specializing in solutions against High Tech crime. Over the last decade James has built a considerable body of experience implementing security solutions for major global banking institutions protecting financial transactions happening in real time with funds under management of up to 6Bn USD.
Initially developing his skills as a security expert in the financial sector. James has developed expertise in securing Wireless networks, Mobile data encryption and developed a methodology for the protection of Corporate Intellectual Property.
James has witnessed first hand the vulnerabilities organisations are exposed to without strong awareness of the growing threat of High Tech crime. With experience in Europe, USA and most recently securing financial payments systems between Ireland and China James will lecture on the specifics of High Tech crime and highlight the growing need for education and awareness as modern technology develops. He will outline the hi tech crime dynamics of Hacking, Phishing, Virus, Hacker methods, Famous Hackers and those who take advantage of them.
