This JEB Teachers' Diploma in Information Communication Technology Diploma is recognised by FAS on the National Register of Trainers. Graduates of the JEB course may wish to pursue Teacher/Training position/s in the following settings: Private Colleges, FAS, Colleges of Further Education, VEC Schemes, Community and Comprehensive Schools. There are many opportunities for progression on completion of the JEB course - it includes completing the MOS and become a Microsoft Master Instructor.

 

JEB Teachers’ Diploma Information Communication Technology

The JEB/EDI Teachers’ Diploma in Information Communication Technology course is ideal for those who wish to teach Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in a school, college or commercial training setting.  The JEB Teachers' Diploma course is ideal for those who intend to pursue a teaching career and wish to gain  the knowledge and understanding of educational principles.  The JEB Course is also suitable for those who are currently teaching, training or facilitating within an educational or commercial environment and who wish to achieve a qualification to confirm their understanding of teaching principles and practice.  Participants on the JEB teachers' Diploma Course will acquire the skills and knowledge to teach ICT in a supportive environment with experienced professionals.

Pre-requisites

The entry requirements to the JEB Teachers' Diploma ICTS are: students are required to have ECDL or equivalent standard.  Mature applicants with relevant work experience are eligible.  Candidates must be 20 years of age on the final assessment date.

Teachers with H Dip Ed or B Ed are eligible for exemption from Education Principles and Practice (EPP).

Course Aim

The aim of the JEB Teachers' Diploma in Information Technology Skills is to demonstrate an understanding of the education principles and practice of teaching and apply the skills and knowledge to the classroom setting.  The JEB course provides an opportunity for individuals who are training to confirm their experience and gain valuable theoretical insights to enhance their teaching skills.

JEB - Education Principles and Practice
The Certificate in Education Principles and Practice is designed to provide students from a non-teaching background with the skills necessary to effectively teach IT and computing skills.

JEB - Education Practice: ICT Skills
In this area students will gain an appreciation of the ICT development and manage ICT learning resources.   They will develop teaching and learning materials for selected applications.

JEB - Applied Principles of ICT Education
Developing a Teaching Project to include a training needs analysis, a scheme of work, lesson plans and teaching materials/resources.  Presentation of lessons during teaching practice sessions.

Assessment

Formal examination of one and a half hours, plus 10 minutes reading time. (This examination assesses all three units).  Four hours teaching practice, two of which are assessed.
