CompTIA A+ Course

The CompTIA A+® course has been designed to prepare students for a challenging career in the computer industry and with excellent opportunities for progression.  CompTIA A+ validates the latest skills and knowledge required at entry level by today’s computer support professionals.  Students of the CompTIA A+ course will gain the knowledge to install, configure and optimise personal computer hardware and operating systems, providing the necessary skills to take the CompTIA A+ Essentials and Practical Application Exams.  This will confirm their ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. The exams also cover domains such as security, safety and environmental issues and communication and professionalism.

CompTIA A+ ensures the right people have the right skills. While many of the essential skills are universal, there are additional skills required to support the needs of businesses. By offering certification options for specific job scenarios, CompTIA A+ gives individuals the ability to grow their careers in a certain area, and employs the flexibility to choose the exam combination that best fits their needs.

Pre-requisites

The entry requirements for the CompTIA A+ course is: ECDL or equivalent and/or relevant work experience. Computer users who wish to pursue a career in the computer industry.  All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English. Eligible candidates may be interviewed.

Course Aim

The Aim of the CompTIA A+ course is to: demonstrate the essentials basic skills needed by any entry-level service technician regardless of job environment.

Principal Areas of Study

CompTIA A+ Essentials 220-701
CompTIA A+ Essentials validates knowledge of basic computer hardware and operating systems, covering skills such as installation, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing and preventive maintenance, with additional elements of security and soft skills. 

CompTIA A+ Practical Application 220-702
The CompTIA A+ Practical Application exam is an extension of the knowledge and skills identified in CompTIA A+ Essentials, with more of a "hands-on" orientation focused on scenarios in which troubleshooting and tools must be applied to resolve problems. Ideally, the CompTIA A+ 220-702 candidate has already passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials examination.

Assessment

Students take CompTIA A+ On-Line examinations at our Prometric testing Centre at: 8 Belvedere Place, Dublin 1.

Awards

Candidates must pass both the CompTIA A+ Essentials 220-701 and Practical Application 220-702 exams to achieve CompTIA A+ Certification.

Examination Fees are not included in the course fee and are: €149.00 per exam (2 Exams)
