An experienced software engineer and architect with over 10 years academic and IT industrial experience in Java, J2EE, .NET, Linux, networking, database, data structure and computer algorithms. A qualified Oracle Certified Java programmer, developer, J2EE Web component developer and J2EE Business component developer. I also have a Cisco CCNA certification. My major interests are software development, software engineering and networking.

Dr Zaigham Mahmood is Reader in Applied Computing and Assistant Head of DISYS (Distributed and Intelligent Systems) research group in the School of Computing and Mathematics at the University of Derby, UK. He has over 70 publications and member of editorial boards of several international journals. Dr Mahmood is lead editor of 'Cloud Computing for Enterprise Architectures' published by Springer (http://www.springer.com ) and joint author, with Thomas Erl, of another text 'Cloud Computing Fundamentals' which is currently being developed. Paul Mooney is an Associate of the Irish Institute of Pensions Managers and of the Pensions Management Institute. He worked for over ten years in some of the largest employee benefits and insurance companies in Ireland covering a wide range of roles from pensions administrator to financial services consultant. Having moved into IT in that industry he also developed many applications in support of these disciplines.

In the last thirteen years Paul has founded three software development and consultancy companies. He has, during the course of this career, fulfilled the roles of developer, analyst, architect and CEO. For the seven years to 2008 he was CEO of his company which was based in Dublin and had its development arm based just outside Islamabad. This company specialised in web based development with government and private company clients in Ireland and the UK.

Paul is currently a director of SOA Solutions, a Dublin based company which he co-founded with his partner Mr. Stephen Maher. SOA Solutions provides consultancy and training services in the area of distributed software development specialising in Service Oriented Architecture. He is also an SOA Systems associate and Certified SOA Trainer.

Brian Turner is a Chief Technical Officer in the Faculty of Engineering at University College Dublin Belfield. Since joining the Faculty of Eng in 1989 he has been providing IT/Network support and solutions for Server and client Apps in Both the Electronic and Chemical Eng Dept.

His main area in IT is Network Support and Systems Administration. But more recently his focus is shifting more towards Building and Maintaining Linux Based Private Clouds using open source tools like Eucalyptus and RedHat Cloudforms, IaaS using RHEV RHEL, and RedHat Satellite For Bare Metal Provisioning. Brian has been using Linux since kernel version 1.8 and most of his recent work has centred around linux/unix based systems. Brian is also a qualified RedHat Certifed System Engineer on RHEL 4.

James Dalton, CCNA Lecturer combines a strong academic background with extensive experience in the telecoms & enterprise network markets. James holds a CCIE certification in routing & switching along with additional Cisco certifications such the CCIP, CCNP etc. James has nearly ten years network experience from troubleshooting large IP networks, right through to design & implementation of such networks using a variety of different vendors & technologies. He lectures in CISCO CCNA.

Helena Whitston T. Dip ICTS, MMI, MCAS, MCTIC3:AI, JEB (EDI) Lecturer. Helena comes to Dorset College with over 10 years’ experience in the IT Industry.    Helena’s background is vast with experience in IT Management to Network Administration & Project Management.  In 2004, Helena decided it was time for a change of career and combined what she loves best, training, with what she already knew IT, Helena did her Teaching Diploma in IT and has been delivering the JEB (EDI) course ever since.  Helena has completed many continuing professional development courses which add greatly to the courses she lectures on.  Helena is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer and holds the Microsoft Master Instructor qualification.

Emma Shelley T. Dip ICTS, is a past Dorset College student with a strong computer applications background in Microsoft and Accounts Systems. Emma also holds a JEB (EDI) ICT teaching diploma and an ECDL Advanced certificate. Emma teaches on both the ECDL and Office Technology courses.
