Career Opportunities & Progression

The Higher Certificate in Business Studies course will provide a strong base from which to pursue careers in accountancy, finance, marketing and general business.Graduates from this course can progress to year two of a BA (Hons) in Business Studies or a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance or alternatively students may enter into year 3 of the BA (Ord) in Business Studies in the Institutes of Technology or Universities. Graduates pursuing professional qualifications may seek exemptions in related disciplines.

The HETAC Higher Certificate in Business Studies course will provide a strong base from which to pursue careers in accountancy, finance, marketing and general business. Graduates from the Higher Certificate in Business course can progress to year two of a BA (Hons) in Business Studies or a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance or alternatively students may enter into year 3 of the BA (Ord) in Business Studies in the Institutes of Technology or Universities in Ireland.

Tax Relief at standard rate: Course Fee: €3450.00 Tax Relief: €724.50 = Course Fee after Tax: €2725.50 per year.

The HETAC Higher Certificate in Business Studies Course is a broad based business studies course on the National Framework of Qualificaitons. This business studies course will provide a strong foundation in a range of specialised business areas such as Business Management and Organisation, Information and Communications Technology, Finance and Law. In addition the higher certificate in business studies course will equip the participant with practical skills to function in a business environment.

Pre-requisites

The requirements for the Higher Certificate in Business Studies course are: Leaving Certificate in five subjects with a Grade D3 or better in ordinary level papers in English Or a Second Language and Mathematics Or have completed a recognised FETAC level 5 programme or equivalent. IELTS 5 Or equivalent for second language speakers of English.

Course Aim

The Aim of the HETAC Higher Certificate in Business Studies Course is:

To educate the student through a stimulating and demanding broad range of specialised business studies areas.
To provide a sound understanding of the theory and concepts in a variety of business subjects.
To enable students to demonstrate and apply a comprehensive range of specialised skills and knowledge in a variety of business contexts.
To enable students to interact efficiently in groups as well as developing substantial personal autonomy in learning and take responsibility for their work and the work of others.
To provide students with a strong base from which to pursue careers and/or further studies in accountancy, finance, marketing and general business studies.
