Diploma in Project Management PMI Course

The Project Management Institute (PMI) is the world’s largest organisation involved in research, development and promotion of project management. Their world-wide standard for project management is known as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®). Tom Ferguson, MPM, B.Sc. (IT), Dip. IT, Dip. Exec Coach, PMP, CTP. Tom has over fifteen year’s project management experience across both the public and private sectors. He has managed significant and complex projects for the organisations in which he has worked - mostly within the IT and engineering domains. Tom holds a Masters in Project Management from the University of Limerick, a B.Sc. in Information Technology from Dublin City University and a Diploma in Executive Coaching from the Irish Management Institute (IMI).   In addition, he has been certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and as a Certified Training Professional (CTP) by the Irish Computer Society.

Pre-requisites

Those with no previous experience of project management or those who wish to increase their ability to function effectively on a project team or as a project manager.

Diploma in Project Management Course Framework

This project management course provides a framework for the management of projects and conveys fundamental and important concepts.

Project Management Course: Integration Management 
This module will explain the integrative nature of project management and the role of the project manager as integrator. The various elements of the project must not only be properly coordinated within the boundaries of the project, but also within the wider context of the organisation and its environment.

Project Management Course: Scope Management

This project management module will emphasise the fundamental importance of strictly managing project scope and will equip the student to develop and use the key constructs that enables a project manager to achieve this most important goal. 

Project Management Course: Time Management 
This project management module examines the processes and techniques involved in the detailed planning and scheduling of a project. The project manager must be able to define an overall project plan and schedule of activities, and monitor and control project progress to achieve a timely completion. 

Project Management Course: Cost Management 
This project management module examines the various processes involved with planning, estimating and managing project cost to ensure that a project is assigned an appropriate budget, and is completed within that budget.

Project Management Course: Human Resource Management

Project Management Course: Risk Management
This project management module examines the various processes involved with identifying, analysing and responding to project risk. The aim is to minimise the probability of adverse events occurring and to know how to deal with risks that do occur in the lifetime of a project.

Assessment

The Project Management Diploma is assessed through Continuous assessment (50%) and examination (50%). Continuous assessment will consist of two significant team based assignments. Examination will be by two multiple choice tests using a similar format to that of the PMI certification examinations.

DC Diploma in Project Management
This project managment course will prepare you for CAPM® or PMP® certification from the PMI.
