Career Opportunities & Progression

The FETAC Legal Studies Certificate Level 5 Course has been developed for those who have an interest in legal studies who wish to develop their general knowledge of the basic concepts of Irish law.

Career Paths

On successful completion of this course, the participant will have achieved a FETAC Legal Studies Major Award atLEVEL 5. Graduates of this course who obtain five or more distinctions are eligible to apply to Dublin City University(DCU) for a place on their BCL in Civil Law (Law & Society) Degree programme. Mature student graduates of this course (over 23 years of age on year of entry) are also eligible to apply to Trinity College, Dublin (TCD) and University College Dublin (UCD) for entry as a mature student on to their Law Degree programmes. Graduates of this course can expect to find employment opportunities in the legal environment, banking, insurance, local business and government, credit unions, auctioneers.
